A Shih Tzu name is a training cue that happens to be cute, not the other way round. You will say it dozens of times a day for the next 10 to 16 years, and most of those times the dog will be doing something you would rather she stopped.

The shape that works is well documented. The American Kennel Club recommends one or two syllables, a hard consonant such as D, K or T, and a name that does not rhyme with a command.
